STEAM STERILISATION

Low-pressure, superheated (heated to 200 degrees) steam is the most efficient, and safe, means of heating soil or other medium, to neutralise unwanted seeds, weeds and nematodes The RSS continuous flow and active motion ‘tumbles’ the soil, or other medium, so that the colder soil continuously moves into the heated steam band over a given residency time to ensure the soil mass is evenly heated to a set temperature, from 70 to 120 degrees, dependent on requirement and exits the process fully sterilised at a typical output of 30 cubic metres per hour dependent on requisite residency time.

Steam sterilisation means no need for expensive chemicals, many of which are being banned for use in weed control. . .

The RSS3000 operation is designed to minimise condensation.

Where soil sterilisation with the RSS3000 is a solution:

  • Soil sterilisation process

Where a farmer or grower continuously produces tons of waste medium from crop farming or animal husbandry e.g. soil or poultry dung. They can process the medium through the RSS3000 for re-use on the land or for sale.

  • potatoes being collected

Where a vegetable processor has waste soil accumulating from cleaning of the produce he processes. Sterilising will allow the soil to be spread on the land or sold.

  • Soil sterilisation for gardening

Where a recycling company wishes to offer the service to smaller scale enterprises on a per tonne basis, such as a horticulturalist who wants to refresh his growing medium.

  • Soil being cleared for re-use

Where soil is removed from development sites e.g residential property, commercial property or roads the soil can be sterilised and re-used for landscaping.
